Bonaventure bounds to glory at Chelmsford

Bonaventure recorded his second career success in emphatic fashion on Saturday evening at Chelmsford City Racecourse. The 3-year-old colt trained by Stuart Williams stormed home under an eye-catching ride from the in-form Kaiya Fraser, who currently boasts an impressive 30% strike rate within the last two weeks and looks like a jockey who is certainly on the rise.

Having settled well into the opening stages of the race, the pivotal moment came as Bonaventure travelled round the bend and hit the 2f pole. A split-second decision was made to switch to the inside rail, and having responded brilliantly to Fraser’s urgings, he bounded clear to achieve an almost 5 length victory.

Bonaventure has subsequently been raised 10lbs from the Handicapper after his success and looks to be maturing into a fantastic colt. Despite heading to the sales at the end of this month we are hopeful to have him run again to help bolster his progressive profile.

BONAVENTURE back down in grade returned to all-weather, wasted no time getting back to form, suited by the way the race developed but winning in taking fashion; waited with, headway towards inner early in straight, led approaching final 1f, quickly clear, eased final 50 yds; will face a hike in the weights, though his profile since moving up to 1m has been largely a positive one.

The veteran of the line-up set a strong pace and was able to keep going for second, but he was no match for a 3-y-o who quickly got back on the up with a commanding victory.
