Cloud Nine! Magellan storms past rivals at Redcar

Magellan Cloud delivered an impressive performance today, shedding his maiden tag in the Racing TV Free Trial EBF Novice Stakes at Redcar Racecourse.

Breaking smartly over seven furlongs, the John and Sean Quinn-trained Colt raced prominently throughout the early stages, and with the field becoming increasingly stretched out by strong pace set by LORD CAPULET, Jason Hart made the decision to head the leader as the two-furlong pole approached.

With racecourse experience on his side, Magellan Cloud powered clear of his rivals, showing grit and determination on the tacky soft ground to win by an impressive length and a half.

He looks an incredibly progressive type who will grow and mature over the winter months before planning begins for his three-year-old campaign. John Quinn further emphasized the excitement for next year by stating “He’s a horse we’re looking forward to seeing next year”.

MAGELLAN CLOUD improved to get off the mark, back down in trip but winning more through stamina than speed; mid-division, off the bridle long way out, rallied approaching final 1f, stayed on to lead final 50 yds; he should be at least as good back at 1m.

The favourite was disappointing and it was the one closest to him in the betting that took advantage, probably value for a fairly useful effort, though an ordinary timefigure casts a bit of doubt as to the solidity of the form.
