Hat-trick heaven for Devoirs Choice

Devoirs Choice continued his remarkable run of form by producing his third consecutive victory this evening in the North Farm Stud Handicap at Kempton Park. Trained by Ed Walker, the brown gelding has been a consistent type throughout the season but has struck a rich vein of form in recent months, achieving wins on both the turf and AW over his optimum mile trip.

Initially hoping to be prominent in the early stages, a burst of pace from the front runners ensured Tom had to sit and wait in 7th. It wasn’t until the final 2 furlongs that the race began to unfold, and after being headed by the Andrew Balding trained-LESSAY, DEVOIRS CHOICE battled gamely to gallop clear of the field, powering strongly through the line.

We have long thought he is a horse with a lot of potential and it is great to see him rising to the challenge. The hat-trick of wins bodes incredibly well for DEVOIRS CHOICE’s potential resale value and he is currently catalogued for the Horse in Training sale later this month. We are hopeful to run at least once more prior with the aim of continuing his progressive profile and achieving the four-timer!

DEVOIRS CHOICE (IRE) back on all-weather for first time since April, translated his progressive profile onto this surface and completed the hat-trick; mid-field, shaken up early in straight, kept on well from 2f out, edged ahead final 100 yds; useful now and may do better still, his straightforward style of racing sure to continue to stand him in good stead.

There was just an ordinary gallop in this handicap, but it still appeals as an interesting piece of form, the winner thriving and chased home by a quartet who will also have plenty to recommend them in the coming weeks.
