It's All Rainbows for PHOENIX PASSION

It was all rainbows for PHOENIX PASSION at Windsor yesterday, where he made a terrific comeback on his seasonal debut in the 1m Handicap, striding into the winners’ enclosure set against a magnificent backdrop. It was yet another victory for the in-form Ed Walker team, who took a double on the day and is boasting a 25% winner to runner strike-rate. Today saw the team bring home a second double on the bounce with HAFEET ALAIN and TEN BOB TONY both successful at Newmarket.

PHOENIX PASSION got our season off to a spectacular start as our first runner on the turf, sitting handy before pulling clear from the rest of the field. Only Hugo Palmer’s HE’S GOT GAME was a match for him, but he held on readily to take the victory by half a length and jockey Saffie Osborne was delighted with his effort.

A Tattersalls Book 2 purchase from Stratford Place Stud, he has been a great horse for his owners with two victories and a third place from seven starts, and as a son of TOO DARN HOT he has trained on nicely at three. He is beautifully bred as the progeny of Group 3-winning SOUVENIR DE LONDRES and half-brother to 111-rated DR ZEMPF, and looks sure to improve further this year.

Time: 101.23s Closing Sectional: (3.38f): 40.60s

PHOENIX PASSION (IRE) back on turf, progressed again to double his career tally; tracked pace, pushed along 3f out, went on approaching final 1f, wandered, driven out.

A fair handicap, run at a stop-start gallop, that went the way of one who had the benefit of a recent run under his belt.
