PUROSANGUE triumphs in the Listed Rockingham Stakes
PUROSANGUE secures our first Stakes level victory in only our fourth season
PUROSANGUE has been knocking on the door at the top level all season and was finally rewarded when upped to his preferred trip of 6f in the Listed Rockingham Stakes, managing it in fine style despite tricky conditions. Only the well-bred, unexposed ESQUIRE could keep pace with him, having shown good form on the ground in his previous starts.
PUROSANGUE is the best son of ACLAIM with an official rating of 104, and was purchased at the Goffs Breeze Up Sale this Spring from Mark Grant Racing. He descends from a good family, out of 10-time winning mare AVON BREEZE and has earned us just under £100,000 across his six starts. Looking like a scopey type for next year, we are very excited to see how he progresses at Group level in 2024.

PUROSANGUE brought some strong form to the table and, well backed, went one better than on last 3 starts - including when bumping into Inquisitively who'd franked that form in pattern company the previous day - returned to a longer trip/more testing conditions; handy, driven over 3f out, every chance when edged left approaching final 1f, led entering final 1f, asserted final 50 yds; reliable type, though it's uncertain how much progress he has left in his locker.
An up-to-scratch running with more than half of the field successful on their latest outing and the well-backed favourite and an unexposed improver came clear, the latter the best long-term prospect, the places filled by another progressive type that's also one to keep on side.
