Victory for VOLKAN BEY

VOLKAN BEY asserted yesterday over 7f with an impressive victory at Kempton for the Stuart Williams team. Keen to get on with things, she went hard early on but was given a well judged ride by jockey Daniel Muscutt, who waited coolly for a gap between SI SI LA BONNE and TEA LEAF TED and powered through to win by a length from BERKIE BOY. 

Her run indicates at plenty to come from the filly, who is well-bred as a daughter of CALYX and a STARSPANGLEDBANNER mare who descends from a line of black-type producers. She was purchased for €150,000 from Arqana’s Breeze Up Sale from Mickey Cleere of MC Thoroughbreds.

Had caught the eye in qualifying for a mark and duly transformed making handicap debut over 1f longer trip after 5 months off, still doing a bit wrong having not settled close to a decent pace, so she's going to have a fair bit more to offer; prominent, raced freely, smooth headway 2f out, got gap between horses, quickened to lead 1f out, kept up to work; will go on improving.
