YACOWLEF Secures a Victory at Headquarters
Under a daring ride from jockey Ryan Moore, YACOWLEF settled a fair way behind the rest before pulling out wide and making his challenge. Pulling clear of the others, he and the favourite, STRIKING STAR, tussled for the lead before YACOWLEF took control to win by half a length. It was a superb performance which landed us a much coveted win at headquarters (Newmarket), on 2000 Guineas Day no less, and indicated much more to come from him going forwards.
Purchased for £45,000 from Tattersalls Book 2 Yearling Sale, YACOWLEF has earned £35,000 in prize money so far, and looks to be a much stronger horse for the season ahead! He is one of two horses in training that we have with trainers Paul and Oliver Cole, who took third on the same day in the 2000 Guineas with Royal Scotsman.

YACOWLEF (IRE) raced well off the pace, headway over 2f out, stayed on to lead inside final 1f, edged left, driven out.
A fairly useful handicap in which deteriorating conditions seemed to take their toll on the majority, the first 2 pulling clear, Yacowlef going one better than in a strong course handicap at the Craven meeting, the third and fourth giving the impression they'd get a fair bit closer another time.
